in this latest edition of my british life, i have become very attached to the inclusion of beetroot in my diet, which is so intense in flavor and color and texture, and also enormously good for you. seems like a winner, too good to be true, no? check out this pleasant fairy tale if you'd like further evidence of why beetroot is so attractive and worthy.i think i have finally come to like eating every vegetable out there, at least as encountered, olives being the most recent taste acquisition/romance. did you know that a rainbow way of eating foods is recommended? it sounds and is a little silly, admittedly, but i find often that many colors together in a pan make me even more sensorily stimulated about cooking and eating.
in other news, tomorrow i am going on a solo retreat to the lake district, with main camp set up in the town of ambleside. i should still be connected, so do look out for some serious reporting on the picturesque throughout the weekend.

i started to read 'jitterbug perfume' the other day and it opened with a slavic superstition about beets being linked to the devil. it drew me in, but it wasn't my book so i put it down.
yes! olives!
i'm a little behind on the posts.
